[ PROCLAMATION NO. 438, August 11, 2003 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1 TO 6, 2003 AS "PRINTING INDUSTRY WEEK"



WHEREAS, the printing industry serves as a vehicle in promoting the country's arts and culture;

WHEREAS, the printing industry, as one of the most effective tools in communication, contributes to the furtherance of the country's goal towards national economic growth;

WHEREAS, the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines, Inc. will hold its 11th National Printers Convention on October 2 to 4, 2003 with the theme "Doing Better Business During Challenging Times”.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus national attention on the vital role played by the printing industry in promoting the government's higher objectives.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from October 1 to 6, 2003, as "Printing Industry Week" under the auspices of the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines, Inc.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 11th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Three.
