[ PROCLAMATION NO. 506, November 16, 2012 ]

DECLARING DECEMBER 9, AS NATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY



WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) has designated December 9 as international Anti-Corruption Day;

WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines is a signatory to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC);

WHEREAS, it is recognized that corruption poses serious problems and threats to the stability and security of societies, undermining the institutions and values of democracy, ethical values and justice, and jeopardizing sustainable development and the rule of law;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare every December 9, as National Anti-Corruption Day.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 16th of November, in the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Twelve.
