[ PROCLAMATION NO. 701, August 30, 2004 ]

DECLARING THE 1ST SUNDAY OF OCTOBER AS THE ASIA-PACIFIC JAYCEE DAY AND COMMEMORATING THE MANILA/PHILIPPINE JAYCEES AS THE 1ST JAYCEE LOCAL/INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION MEMBER (LOM/NOM) IN THE ASIA PACIFIC



WHEREAS, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines, being the first LOM/NOM in Asia has been in the forefront of serving the local/national and international Jaycee Movement even before 1947—is also JCI Affiliate;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Jaycees will already changed its corporate name and brand through the years from its original nomenclature: Philippine Junior Chamber of Commerce; Junior Chamber of the Philippines, and now the Junior Chamber International Philippines-is a Chartered Member of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) since 1947;

WHEREAS, the JCI Philippines, having sponsored and hosted Jaycees International Conventions as well as Asia-Pacific Conference, is likewise recognized by the JCI as one of the most awarded LOM/NOMs, notable of which are the Most Outstanding LOM/NOM and LOM/NOM President awards, among the yearly recognitions, having embarked on national and international programs and projects which have been adopted by the JCI;

WHEREAS, the JCI Philippines has produced five (5) JCI World Presidents; a number of JCI EVPs, Directors and other high-ranking positions almost annually in the JCI to include the founding of the Jaycee Senate Foundation and similar international bodies;

WHEREAS, there is a need to commemorate the foundations by which the Filipino Jaycees have exemplified, initiated, and contributed in the local/national and international arena of leadership development with the vast and immense legacy the y bequeathed most worthy to be emulated, remembered and cherished.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the 1st Sunday of October as the Asia-Pacific Jaycee Day and Commemorating the Manila/Philippine Jaycees as the 1st Jaycee Local/National Organization Member (LOM/NOM) in the Asia Pacific.

I call upon all agencies of the government, professional, civic, and religious organizations, and the mass media to extend their wholehearted cooperation and support to the Philippine Jaycee Movement in this Laudable endeavor.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
