[ PROCLAMATION NO. 750, December 16, 2004 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, 24 DECEMBER 2004 AND MONDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2004, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAYS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY.



WHEREAS, under Executive Order No. 292 (1987) as amended by Republic Act No. 9177, December 25 (Christmas Day), December 30 (Rizal Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day) are regular holidays, while December 31 (last day of the year) is a special holiday.

WHEREAS, by tradition, Filipino celebrate the Christmas holidays by visiting their families, relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, in order to afford our countrymen a longer time to spend with their loved ones, to enable them to have a more meaningful observance of Christmas and to give them greater opportunities to strengthen their ties with each other, it is fitting to declare 24 December 2004 and 27 December 2004 as special (non-working) days throughout the country.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by order of her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Friday, 24 December 2004 and Monday, 27 December 2004 as special (non-working) days throughout the country.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
