[ PROCLAMATION NO. 785, February 09, 2005 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2005, AS SPECIAL NATIONAL HOLIDAY



WHEREAS, Friday, February 25, 2005, marks the 19th anniversary of the February 22 to 25, 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution;

WHEREAS, the EDSA People Power Revolution restored our democratic institution and ushered in meaningful political, social and economic reforms in the country;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Philippines be given full opportunity to honor the memory of the EDSA People Power Revolution with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, February 25, 2005, as a special national holiday.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 9th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Five.
