[ PROCLAMATION NO. 421, June 17, 1957 ]

PROCLAIMING JULY 13 AND 14, 1957, AS PHILIPPINE NATIONAL SOAP BOX DERBY DAYS



WHEREAS, the Philippine National Soap Box Derby sponsored by local business firms will be held in Quezon City on July 13 and 14, 1957;

WHEREAS, the youth of our country will compete in the spirit of true sportsmanship in this race of hand-made, gravity-propelled racers built by boys in accordance with official Soap Box Derby rules;

WHEREAS, this event brings about a sense of comradeship among civic organizations, business houses, and individuals, all working for the welfare of our youth, developing friendship, goodwill, and cooperation;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Soap Box Derby fosters in our youth a knowledge of technical skills as necessary to the industrialization of our country; and

WHEREAS, stimulation of ingenuity and enterprises among the youth of our country is one of the principal purposes of this event;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim July 13 to 14, 1957, as Philippine National Soap Box Derby Days.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 17th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the eleventh.
