[ PROCLAMATION NO. 162, September 18, 1963 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1963, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCES OF LA UNION, ILOCOS SUR AND ILOCOS NORTE.



WHEREAS, the bicentennial of the execution of Gabriela Silang, a famous woman leader of the Ilocos Revolt, falls on September 20, 1963;

WHEREAS, her bravery, patriotism and selflessness represent the highest ideals of the Filipino people; and

WHEREAS, the people of La Union, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, for whom she gave her life, should be afforded an opportunity to commemorate the event with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, do hereby declare Friday, September 20, 1963, as a special public holiday in the provinces of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of, the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 18th day of September, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-three.
