[ PROCLAMATION NO. 189, December 31, 1963 ]
WHEREAS, during the State Visit of President Adolfo Lopez Mateos of the United States of Mexico to the Philippines, on October 20-23, 1962, a joint communique was issued by him and by the President of the Republic of the Philippines expressing their mutual desire to strengthen the historic ties between the Philippines and Mexico;
WHEREAS, this desire to strengthen centuries-old relations deeply rooted in the common historical and cultural heritage of the two countries can be manifested in various practical and effective ways;
NOW, THEREFORE, I Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim 1964 as “The Year of Philippine-Mexican Friendship.”
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 31st day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-three.
