[ PROCLAMATION NO. 83, July 28, 1948 ]

RESERVING A PARCEL OF LAND SITUATED IN ISABELA, BASILAN ISLAND, FOR THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF BASILAN.



Upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources and pursuant to the provisions of section 83 of Commonwealth Act No. 141, as amended, I hereby reserve for the seat of Government of the City of Basilan, subject to private rights, if any there be, and to future classification, survey, and disposition under Chapter XI of the same Act, the following described parcel of land situated in Isabela, Basilan Island, to wit:

“Beginning at a point marked 1 on the attached blue print which is the mouth of Sumagdang River, thence S. 41° 00′ E., 4,000 meters to point 2; thence N. 48° 30′ E. until it intersects Tabiawan River or a distance of about 4,550 meters to point 3; thence following the said river downstream until point 4 which is the mouth of Tabiawan River; thence following the shore line to the point of beginning. Consisting of about 2,360 hectares.

“Bounded on the northeast by the Tabiawan River; southeast by Basilan Plantation Go. and public lands; southwest by the Basilan Plantation Company and Sumagdang River; and on the northwest by Isabela Channel.”

Out of the area above-described, a strip of land 100 meters wide, running along the shore line from point 1 to point 4, and the adjoining land under water, 100 meters seaward from the said shore line, including the navigable portion of the Aguada River, are hereby reserved for port facilities under the administration of the City of Basilan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 28th day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-eight, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the third.
