[ PROCLAMATION NO. 86, July 31, 1948 ]

EXTENDING FURTHER THE PERIOD FIXED IN THE AMNESTY PROCLAMATION FOR THE SURRENDER OF THE LEADERS AND MEMBERS OF THE HUKBALAHAP AND THE PAMBANSANG KAISAHAN NG MGA MAGBUBUKID (PKM).



WHEREAS, the Congress of the Philippines, concurring in Proclamation No. 76, dated June 21, 1948, which grants amnesty to leaders and members of the Hukbalahap and the Pambansang Kaisahan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM), authorizes and consents to the extension by the President of the Philippines for not exceeding one month when said body is not in session of the period of twenty days therein prescribed;

WHEREAS, the period fixed in Proclamation No. 81, dated July 15, 1948, within which the leaders and members of the Hukbalahap and the Pambansang Kaisahan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM) may present themselves will expire at midnight tonight; and

WHEREAS, it is desired to give the leaders and members of the Hukbalahap and the Pambansang Kaisahan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM) all the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits afforded to them by Proclamation No. 76, dated June 21, 1948:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Concurrent Resolution No. 39 of the Congress of the Phil­ippines, dated June 25, 1948, do hereby extend up to and including the 15th day of August, nineteen hundred and forty-eight, the period fixed, in the Amnesty Proclamation for the leaders and members of the Hukbalahap and the Pambansang Kaisahan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM).

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 31st day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-eight, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the third.
