[ PROCLAMATION NO. 102, November 03, 1948 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 10 TO DECEMBER 10, 1948, FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES.



WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, a public corporation created by Commonwealth Act No. 542 for the purpose of helping girls from 7 to 18 years of age realize the ideals of womanhood as a preparation for their responsibilities in the home and service to the community, plans to conduct a national campaign for funds with which to maintain, finance and promote its various activities for the attainment of its mission;

WHEREAS, in recognition of its splendid accomplishments in character development and in promoting the moral, spiritual and physical welfare of the Filipino girls, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines deserves to receive the continued moral and material encouragement and support on the part of our people so that it may be able to carry on its laudable work effectively;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines needs financial assistance to enable it to meet its essential requirements as an independent organization to take care of its rapidly increasing membership and greater areas of activity; and

WHEREAS, the proposed fund campaign will afford our people the rare privilege and opportunity to give a tangible expression of their appreciation of the good work being undertaken by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby designate and set aside the period from November 10 to December 10, 1948, for the conduct of the 1948 National Fund Campaign of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to raise funds for the purposes mentioned above. I call upon all government officials and employees and all citizens and residents of the Philippines to give generously of their means and time to this campaign so that the girls of our citizenry may not lack the opportunities we have opened up for our boys.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 3rd day of November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-eight, and of .the Independence of the Philippines, the third.
