[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1060, May 19, 2006 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 2006, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA



WHEREAS, every year the City of Manila Celebrates June 24 as "Araw ng Maynila" in commemoration of the founding of the City as the premier Christian City of Asia;

WHEREAS, Saturday, June 24, 2006, marks the 435th Foundation Day Anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, the residents of Manila, conscious of the historical and cultural significance of the event, desire to celebrate the same with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Saturday, June 24, 2006, as special (non-working) day in the City of Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 19th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Six.
