[ PROCLAMATION NO. 995, August 14, 2020 ]

DECLARING TUESDAY, 18 AUGUST 2020, A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF NAGA, PROVINCE OF CAMARINES SUR



WHEREAS, Jesse M. Robredo, who was appointed Secretary of the Department of the interior and Local Government, and a champion of good governance, was instrumental in the implementation of far-reaching reforms in local governance;

WHEREAS, Secretary Robredo served with utmost dedication as Mayor of Naga City from 1988 to 1998 and from2001 to 2010;

WHEREAS, his outstanding performance as Mayor of Naga City earned him numerous awards such as the Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the first Filipino Mayor to be conferred such distinction;

WHEREAS, Secretary Robredo, considered one of the local heroes of Naga City, passed away in a tragic plane accident on 18 August 2012;

WHEREAS, his many virtues as a public servant have permanently earned him the gratitude of the City he led, and the Republic he served; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Naga be given full opportunity to honor the memory of Secretary Robredo through appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SALVADOR C. MEDIALDEA, Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, do hereby declare Tuesday, 18 August 2020, a special (non-working) day in the City of Naga, Province of Camarines Sur, in commemoration of the death anniversary of Secretary Jesse M.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
