[ PROCLAMATION NO. 109, February 03, 1955 ]

MAKING PUBLIC THE TREATY OF AMITY BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA



WHEREAS, a Treaty of Amity between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of China was concluded and signed by their respective plenipotentiaries at Manila on April eighteenth, nineteen hundred and forty-seven;

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 32 adopted on May 15, 1947, concurred in the ratification of the said Treaty in accordance with the Constitution of the Philippines;
WHEREAS, the instruments of ratification of the said Treaty by the two Governments were exchanged at Manila on October 24, nineteen hundred and forty-seven; and

WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the said Treaty that it shall enter into force upon the exchange of the instruments of ratification;

Now, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, have caused the said Treaty, a certified copy of which in the English text is hereto attached, to be made public to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and. the citizens thereof.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 3rd day of February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the ninth.
