[ PROCLAMATION NO. 227, December 10, 1955 ]

MAKING PUBLIC THE TREATY OF FRIENDSHIP, CONSULAR SERVICE, AND ESTABLISHMENT BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE KINGDOM OF GREECE



WHEREAS, a Treaty of Friendship, Consular Service, and Establishment between the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Greece, designed to strengthen and perpetuate the friendly relations so happily existing between them in a manner befitting their spiritual, cultural, and economic ties, has concluded and signed by the respective plenipotentiaries of the two Government in the City of Manila on the 28th day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty;

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Congress of the Philippines, by its Resolution No. 79, adopted on May 2, 1952, concurred in the making of the said Treaty of Friendship, Consular Service, and Establishment in accordance with the Constitution of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the instruments of ratification of the two Governments were exchanged in Manila on December 18, 1954;

WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the said Treaty that it shall enter into force upon the exchange of the instruments of ratification;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, have caused the said Treaty, a certified copy of which is hereto attached, to be made public to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic of the Philippines and the citizens thereof.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done at Manila, this 10th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the tenth.
