[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1185, July 07, 2021 ]

DECLARING 07 TO 12 JULY 2021 AS DAYS OF NATIONAL MOURNING



WHEREAS, on 04 July 2021, a Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft crash landed in Jolo Airport, Sitio Amman, Barangay Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu, causing the demise of several military personnel and civilians; and

WHEREAS, these deaths constitute a great tragedy to our nation, and during this time of grief, a most solemn and respectful commemoration of the benevolent service and heroic acts of our military personnel is called for;

WHEREAS, the nation mourns and joins the families and friends of our fallen brothers and sisters in their moment of sorrow; and

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8491, or the "Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines," provides that the Philippine Flag shall be flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning on all buildings and places where it displayed, during tragedies of national significance as ordered by the Office of the President;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare 07 to 12 July 2021 as Days of National Mourning, in solidarity with the bereaved family of the military personnel and civilians who perished in the crash landing of a Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft in Sulu on 04 July 2021.

During the said period, the national flag shall be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and military installations throughout the Philippines.

The entire nation is requested to offer prayers for the eternal repose of the souls of the victims of this tragic incident.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
