[ MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 33, November 16, 2017 ]

ENJOINING ALL DEPARTMENTS, AGENCIES, AND INSTRUMENTALITIES OF THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING GOVERNMENT-OWNED OR -CONTROLLED CORPORATIONS, LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS, AND STATE UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES, TO SUPPORT THE INTRAMUROS REGIONAL FAIRS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND THE INTRAMUROS ADMINISTRATION



WHEREAS, the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 is geared towards the promotion of Filipino culture and values as it acknowledges the empowering nature of culture in the enhancement of the social fabric toward a high- trust society;

WHEREAS, the Government aims to expand inclusive cultural structures as civic spaces for dialogue and cultural exchange by utilizing cultural infrastructure and facilities as venues for fostering social cohesion and valuing cultural diversity;

WHEREAS, consistent with the PDP cultural agenda, the Department of Tourism and the Intramuros Administration will organize regional fairs at the historic district of Intramuros, beginning March 2018, to highlight the history and culture of the Filipino people through lectures, workshops, performances, fashion exhibits, culinary festivals, tourism destination products and trade exhibits;

NOW, THEREFORE, all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the national government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, local government units, and state universities and colleges, are enjoined to lend full support in the conduct of the Intramuros regional fairs and to encourage active participation in all its programs and activities.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately.
