MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 58

[ MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 58, October 14, 2013 ]

RECONSTITUTING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (NEDA) BOARD



WHEREAS , Section 5 of Executive Order (EO) No. 230 (s. 1987) provides that NEDA shall primarily be responsible for formulating continuing, coordinated and fully integrated social and economic policies, plans and programs;

WHEREAS, Republic Act (RA) No. 6975 provides that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) shall assist the President in the exercise of general supervision over local government units (LGUs);

WHEREAS, EO No. 4 (s. 2010) created the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) to oversee the information gathering and the accurate and efficient dissemination of information relating to the policies, programs, official activities and achievements of the President and the Executive Branch;

WHEREAS , Section 4 of EO No. 230 (s. 1987) authorizes the President to revise the membership of the NEDA Board whenever the same is deemed necessary for the effective performance of the Board’s functions; and,

WHEREAS , there is a need to reconstitute the membership of the NEDA Board to address critical regional and local concerns and to accurately communicate the programs of the national government to the Filipino people.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III , President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby reconstitute the membership of the NEDA Board to include the Secretaries of the DILG and PCDSPO as members.

This Order shall take effect immediately.

DONE , in the City of Manila, this 14th day of October, in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Thirteen.
