(NAR) VOL. 5 NO. 1/JANUARY - MARCH 1994

[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 51, s. 1993, December 14, 1993 ]

STRONG WARNING OF THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT AGAINST THE FORMING OF WORKERS UNIONS OR ANY ASSOCIATIONS TO CHAMPION THEIR CAUSE

The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has relayed information about the strong warning of the Malaysian Government against the forming of workers unions or any associations to champion their cause.

Concerned that foreign workers unions could deter investors from coming to Malaysia, the State Government has announced that alien workers found to be involved in this type of activities will be deported immediately. Workers who have grievances against employers are encouraged to report to the Labor Department of Malaysia in order to settle their problems.

All agencies and PDOS entities are enjoined to disseminate this information to workers bound for Malaysia.

For compliance.
