The Commission of the European Communities adopted the decision stipulated in the provisions of Council Directive 80/217/EEC of 22 January 1980 introducing community measures for the control of Classical Swine Fever as last amended by the Accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden, and in particular thereof:
- Article 9-paragraph 1 protection and surveillance zones were immediately established around outbreak sites in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. The movement of live pigs and untreated pig meat is restricted.
- European Union ban has been reduced to the countries of East Anglia wherein Classical Swine Fever has been confirmed.
- Apart from pork, pork products and pork by-products, EU also lifted the movement of live pigs and semen.
Based on the above declaration of the European Communities, I hereby approve the importation of live pigs and semen from the United Kingdom, except East Anglia.
This Order shall take effect immediately.
