PUBLICATION OF FILM CLASSIFICATION IN PRINT ADS



All movie producers/distributors and representatives, as well as all newspaper and magazine publishers, are hereby reminded that Section 8 of Presidential Decree No. 1986 requires all motion pictures exhibitors to

“. . . Include in all their cinema advertisements announcements stating the classification, as provided in Section 3(e) hereof, of the motion picture being exhibited or advertised.”

Further, the MTRCB had previously issued Memorandum Circular 97-11 requiring all concerned to “ print at the top of their newspaper ads any of the following announcements, depending upon the actual rating of their movies:

Rated R-18 by the MTRCB
Rated PG-13 by the MTRCB
Rated PG-7 by the MTRCB
Rated GP by the MTRCB.”

The MTRCB will not hesitate to mete out the appropriate penalties for failure to comply with these provisions of the law and the Memorandum Circulars implementing the same.
