TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CONTRACT PROCESSING AND DEPLOYMENT OF NIGERIA-BOUND WORKERS



In light of the repeated incidents of kidnapping of Filipino workers due to the political situation in Nigeria and in order to ensure the continued security and safety of our OFWs, the temporary suspension of contract processing and deployment of Nigeria-bound workers is hereby ordered pursuant to Section 5 of R.A. 8042.

This suspension applies to the processing and deployment of all landbased and seabased Filipino workers. Manning and recruitment agencies are hereby directed to advise their principals of the Philippine concern and of this precautionary move to prevent the occurrence of similar incidents.

All POLO officers are accordingly advised with the instruction to notify OFWs within their respective jurisdictions of the present restriction on contract work in Nigeria.

This Order takes effect immediately.
