SUSPENSION OF THE RECLASSIFICATION OF IMPORTED SUGAR FROM “C” OR RESERVE INTO “B” OR DOMESTIC SUGAR



WHEREAS, there is a need to suspend the reclassification of imported sugar from “C” or Reserve into “B” or Domestic to help prevent the further decline  of sugar prices in the domestic market because of oversupply of local and imported sugar;

NOW, THEREFORE, under and by virtue of the authority vested in the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRI), it is hereby ordered that:

SECTION 1. The gradual reclassification of all imported “C” Sugar into “B” or Domestic Sugar, pursuant to Section 1 of Sugar Order No. 10, Series of 1995-1996, dated 24 July 1996, is suspended for the months of November and December, 1996, and subject to release upon consultation with planters’  federation and the congressmen of the sugar producing provinces in the country.

SECTION 2. Provisions of Sugar Orders, Circular Letters, rules and regulations inconsistent with or contrary to this Sugar Order are hereby revoked, amended or modified accordingly.
