SUSPENSION AND/OR DEFERMENT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SMOKE EMISSION TEST AS ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR PUBLIC UTILITY VEHICLE PRIOR REGISTRATION



Pursuant to the DOTC Secretary Memorandum dated 14 October 2002, and pursuant to LTO Memorandum dated 09 October 2002 relative to the above captioned subject, the mandatory emission test prior to renewal of registration of all Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) is temporarily lifted until 02 January 2003. Emission test for Private Vehicles is still enforced.  The anti-smoke belching campaign will still be continued.  Emission test of apprehended vehicles as a consequence of roadside inspection shall be done at the Private Emission Testing Center (PETC) prior to the release of impounded plates and/or confiscated driver's license.
