(NAR) VOL. 16 NO. 4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2005

[ GTEB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 028-04, December 28, 2004 ]

NOTICE TO ALL GARMENT AND TEXTILE EXPORTERS RE 2005 EXPORT AND IMPORT TRANSACTIONS

Starting 1 January 2005, exports of garments and textiles will follow the normal export procedures for all other sectors in line with the elimination of all garments and textile quotas under the WTO.

Therefore, all quota-related documentation such as textile export clearance (TEC), Export License/Certificate of Origin (EL/CO), Special Export License (SEL) and Textile Visa, that were previously secured from the Garments and Textile Export Board (GTEB) will no longer be required for 2005 export shipments.

Garments and textile exporters will be assisted by the DTI Bureau of Export Trade Promotion-Export Assistance Network (BETP-EXPONET) on matters pertaining to export documentation and facilitation of 2005 export shipments.

As announced in an earlier GTEB circular, post-shipment documentation for year-end 2004 export shipments will still be processed in the GTEB offices, 3rd floor New Solid Bldg., Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City.

Import-related documentation, such as import licensing, BMW licensing/renewal, and subcontractor accreditation and registration, will continue to be processed at the DTI-GTEB offices, 3rd floor New Solid Bldg., until such time that these functions are devolved to the proper DTI agency or bureau.

For information and guidance.
