(NAR) VOL. II NO. 4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1991

[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 67, November 28, 1991 ]

POLICY ON TRAVEL BAN TO SOUTH AFRICA

Per advise from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the travel ban to South Africa remains in place despite reforms by the Pretoria government to eradicate apartheid. A complete lifting of the travel ban will be undertaken when total eradication of the apartheid system is achieved.

However, the DFA will grant exemptions from the travel ban on a case-to-case and non-precedent basis based on humanitarian and other considerations. In this regard, POEA may refer applications for travel to South Africa for employment purposes, to the office of Consular Affairs, DFA for their considerations.

For information.
