DEPLOYMENT OF OFWs TO UZBEKISTAN

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advised that there is no crisis Alert Level raised over Uzbekistan. The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Iran, which has jurisdiction over Uzbekistan, is monitoring the peace and order situation.

As recommended by the DFA, deployment of OFWs to Uzbekistan may be allowed, based on the provision of Section 3 of RA 10022, to companies and contractors with international operations, to wit:

“The State shall likewise allow the deployment of overseas Filipino workers to companies and contractors with international operations. Provided, That they are compliant with standards, conditions and requirements, as embodied in the employment contracts prescribed by the POEA and in accordance with internationally-accepted standards”

Deployment to the said country shall further be subject to the guidelines prescribed under Memorandum Circular No. 06, Series of 2012.
