[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 702, May 31, 1978 ]

TO:
Secretary of Natural Resources

In order to assure the continuous flow of water in Pagsanjan Falls, Laguna, which is one of the major tourist attractions, of the Philippines, it is necessary to preserve the vegetation in the watershed and forest areas feeding water to the Pagsanjan River.  It is therefore necessary that all logging activities in the towns of Laguna, such as Cavinti, Lumban, Luisiana and other towns therein or in Quezon forming the headwaters of Pagsanjan River, be cancelled or revoked.

A report on the timber licenses or logging permits cancelled shall be submitted to me within fifteen (15) days from date hereof.

Done in the City of Manila, this 31st day of May, nineteen hundred and seventy-eight.

(Sgd.) FERDINAND E. MARCOS
President of the Philippines
