DECLARING TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2003, AS SPECIAL (NON WORKING DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEZON)



WHEREAS, Tuesday, November 4, 2003, marks the 162nd death anniversary of Apolinario dela Cruz, better known as "Hermano Pule", the great man from Lukban Quezon; WHEREAS, Hermano Pule rendered invaluable service to our country by founding the brotherhood popularly known as Confradia De Jesus, WHEREAS, the brotherhood or religious organization that Hermano Pule founded spread like wildfire in the Province of Tayabas ( now Quezon, Laguna and some towns in Batangas) igniting nationalism in the region; WHEREAS, in line with the Decade of Nationalism, Nationhood and the Philippine Revolutionary Movement, it is fitting and proper to honor and emulate the heroism and patriotism of Apolinario (Hermano Pule) de la Cruz and give the people of Quezon Province full opportunity to commemorate the event with appropriate ceremonies. NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALBERTO G. ROMULO,Executive Secretary, by order of Her Excellency GLORIA MACAPAGAL – ARROYO, do hereby declare Tuesday, November 4, 2003, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Quezon.
