DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 23 TO 27, 2005 AS LABOR MANAGEMENT COOPERATION WEEK



WHEREAS, the Constitution mandates the promotion of the "principle of shared responsibility between workers and the employers" and the enforcement of their mutual compliance therewith to foster industrial peace;

WHEREAS, there is a need to create broader consciousness of labor-management cooperation as an effective measure to foster industrial peace and harmony;

WHEREAS, labor-management cooperation is a necessity to enable our industries to thrive and sustain their competitiveness brought about by the challenges of the rapidly changing global business environment under the new world trade order mandated by the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL - ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from May 23 to 27, 2005 as Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) Week:
