[ PROCLAMATION NO. 175, October 21, 1963 ]

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1963, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BADOC, PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE



WHEREAS, the 106th birthday anniversary of Juan Luna, patriot and first internationally renowned Filipino painter, falls on October 23, 1963;

WHEREAS, his works of art served to introduce Filipino culture to other peoples of the world; and

WHEREAS, the people of Badoc, Ilocos Norte, his birthplace, should be afforded an opportunity to celebrate the event, with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, in recognition of Juan Luna’s noble and patriotic services to the country, do hereby declare Wednesday, October 23, 1963, as a special public holiday in the municipality of Badoc, province of Ilocos Norte,

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 21st day of October, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-three.
