[ PROCLAMATION NO. 190, January 07, 1964 ]

DECLARING THE FOURTH WEEK OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS CHILDREN’S WEEK



WHEREAS, our country’s future demands that proper direction be given to our youth for an enligthened citizenry;

WHEREAS, in our age it is necessary to develop to the fullest extent the latent capabilities of our youth to enable our nation to keep in step with the march of progress; and

WHEREAS, a week should be dedicated to the children in the hope of arousing greater concern for their welfare and their proper moral and intellectual upbringing;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the fourth week of January of every year as Children’s Week and designate the Children’s Museum and Library, Inc., to take charge of the occasion.

Proclamation No. 352, dated January 14, 1959, is hereby revoked.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 7th day of January, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-four.
