[ PROCLAMATION NO. 55 (2), August 10, 1954 ]

EXCLUDING FROM THE OPERATION OF THE PROCLAMATION NO. 294, DATED JULY 20, 1938, A PARCEL OF THE PUBLIC DOMAIN SITUATED IN CERVANTES, ILOCOS SUR, ISLAND OF LUZON, AND TO ESTABLISH THE SAME AS BESSANG PASS NATIONAL SHRINE



Upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, as Chairman of the Commission on Parks and Wildlife, and pursuant to the provisions of Section One of Act Numbered Thirty-nine hundred and fifteen, as amended, I, RAMON MAGSAYSAY, President of the Philippines, do hereby exclude from the operation of Proclamation No. 294, series of 1938, certain portion of the Tirad Pass National Park and establish the same as Bessang Pass National Shrine, under the control and administration of the Commission on Parks and Wildlife, subject to private rights, if any there be, situated in the municipality of Cervantes, province of Ilocos Sur, Island of Luzon, which parcel of land is more particularly described as follows:

“Beginning from a point marked “1” on the plan situated at Barrio Naiba of the Municipality of Cervantes, Province of Ilocos Sur, thence

North 67° 30′ East

3,040 meters to point “2”

South 20° 30′ West

3,420 meters to point “3”

North 39° 00′ West

2,600 meters to point “1”

point of beginning, containing an area of 3,040,000 square meters more or less.

The above described parcel of land is subject to future delimitation and survey.

IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 10th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-four, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the ninth.
